So You Think You Can Dance: The Auditions Go to Salt Lake City, Charleston, and Dallas
This week on So You Think You Can Dance, the judges (Nigel, Mary, and Adam Shankman) went to Salt Lake City, Charleston, and Dallas to try to find good amateur talent. Of course, they found some nut jobs on their search as well. Poor Naomi Christensen was just bad – bad, bad, bad. And, when the judges tried to tell her she was bad, she made excuses. Nope, still just bad Naomi. Then there was Steven Arner. He and Naomi would have made a great dance couple – both were bad and delusional. Steven got into an argument with Mary when she told him he was terrible. Ah, gotta have confidence in yourself I guess.
One bright spot was Brett Banford, who was born with Down’s syndrome, but still managed to get down on the dance floor. He was told he would be great in a club, but just not ready for the competition yet. All the judges did however, call him an inspiration and the other contestants loved him.
Now for the good – We saw lots of contestants get the golden ticket to Vegas. Chelsea Hightower, whose family was so down and out at one point that her older brothers paid for her dancing lessons, was really good. Gev Manoukian went home, worked on his choreography, and made it to Vegas this year. Despite the weird faces she made while dancing, the judges loved Lindsey Judkins and we will see more of her. Kelly Baker did something I’ve never see anyone do – she left Mary speechless. But then her mom is a Emmy winning choreographer, so I guess she does have a lot to live up to. Best friends Courtney and Michelle made it through to Vegas as did strip club DJ Ryann Race. He was good, but don’t know how far he can go. Little Miss Pageant girl Paige Jones, the kind of girl every girl hates in high school, made it through to Vegas as well. So did Arielle, who was really good, although her partner John didn’t.
