So You Think You Can Dance: The Top 20 Special
Big news tonight on “So You Think You Can Dance” – Adam Shankman is now permanent judge and Nigel had a chair beside him for a very special guest judge – Paula Abdul (if she shows up). After a cool group dance, hip hoppers Russell, Kevin, and Legacy did a very exciting routine that Nigel loved.
Next up was the first contemporary group with Nathan, Ariana, Jakob, and Channing. Mary called their performance “unbelievable.” Then the Tappers – Peter, Bianca, and Phillip – were up with new choreographer Derick K. Grant. I love tappers, but wish Ryan Kasprzak was in the Top 20. BTW, Derick did a great job, but is anyone else as sad as I am that Mia Michaels is gone from the show?
The Jazz dancers – Mollee, Pauline, and Ellenore – were good, but then they had Sonya choreographing them. I love Sonya.
Then it was the final group of contemporaries – Victor, Noelle, Billy, and Kathryn. Mandy Moore was their choreographer. Adam thought it was both beautiful and relentless.
Last up were Ashleigh, Karen, and Ryan – the ballroom dancers. Mary called them “hot,” “hot,” and “hot.” This is going to be a tough season, but two dancers will leave tomorrow night!
