So You Think You Can Dance: Vegas Shatters Dreams of Some
It was a tough three days in Vegas for “So You Think You Can Dance” contestants. The catch phrase of the night seemed to be “You’ll have to dance for your life.” After the first solos, 45 contestants were sent home. That included Travis Prokop (the football coach’s son) and Talia Rickard (the young widow).
The contestants were worked to the bone and many who showed promise at first faltered. Gabi Rojas struggled and struggled before being cut in the final choreography round. Bianca Revels, whom Nigel called the best female tapper he had seen, was also cut and said this was her last year of trying out for the show. Natalie Reid was cut after Sonya’s jazz choreography. I hated when Erik “Silky” Moore had to dance for his life because his group couldn’t get it together then Nigel told him it was the end of the road. Personally, I thought he was the best of his group. I am not even sure why they did groups anyhow, but I did enjoy Nerdography, which I am pretty sure was choreographed by Ryan Kasprzak, wowed the judges.
Mia’s choreography was almost the end of Tony Bellissimo, but he too had to dance for his life and was saved. It was the end for Nobuya Nagahama, who I liked.
Sisters Megan and Caitlyn Kinney were split up when Megan made it though Mia’s contemporary but was cut after the Broadway choreography. Sister Caitlyn made it through to the Top 16.
Also making it through to the Top 16 were my favorites, the Broadway Brothers Evan and Ryan Kasprzak. Love, love, love these guys. After seeing the previews of tomorrow night, I hope the judges don’t have to choose between these two.
The final 32 contestants danced their solos tonight (shown in a very quick montage) and we were teased with the Top 20 being announced, but that won’t come until tomorrow night.
