Some observations about Dancing With the Stars
Because I am a Dancing With the Stars geek – or perhaps becoming a borderline obsessed fan – I watched Friday’s results show again. A few days away from the initial excitement of watching the show I have a few observations to make.
Let’s start with Stacy Kiebler. What is Stacy Kiebler’s problem? In the “confessional” she says the judge Carrie Ann has had it in for her from the beginning. Am I watching the same show that she’s in? The judges have never been anything but complementary to Stacy since day 1. With the exception of Drew Lacey, Stacy has been the leader from the beginning. Maybe Stacy thinks Carrie Ann has it out for her because she doesn’t fall all over her like the male judges do? At the very end of the show when the other celebrities circled Louis van Amstel and Lisa Rinna, Stacy was kind of stand-offish. Right before the show ended there was a close up of Stacy. She looked like she could spit nails. I’m not sure what that means.
Tom Bergeron. What a great guy he seems to be – and here’s why. In his “behind the scenes” section preparing to do the Quickstep, he said he wanted to get a feeling for what the celebrities go through on a weekly basis. He’s funny, insightful, witty and really enjoyable to watch. (Poor Scott Hamilton – every time I watch Skating With Celebrities I can’t help but compare him to Tom.)
Jerry Rice. I’m wondering if a big part of Jerry’s place in the finals is a result of the biting negative comments made by the male judges. Kind of a Master P phenomenon. I my opinion Master P stayed on the show as long as he did because the public felt bad for him and how the judges critiqued him. Almost to the point of “well, we’ll show you what’s what”, keeping him on the show longer than he probably should have been there. Mind you I’m not saying that Jerry does not belong in the finals. He was my favorite celebrity last week and I used all five (yes I said five) telephone votes to keep him. A bit of advice – don’t just take ABC at their word when they say you only had four votes. Keep calling until you get the message that says you can’t vote any more.
I’ve been a fan of Jerry and Lisa for the last few shows. As I said in other entries, I am starting to enjoy watching the improvement in people rather than the outstanding performers who were good from show number one. I’ll be pulling for Jerry in the finals this week.
Now maybe I can delete the show from my Tivo.
