Stephanie is Donald Trump’s newest Apprentice
I have a problem with long drawn out results shows. I complain weekly about Dancing With The Stars, so it should come as no surprise that I compare tonight’s finale of The Apprentice to a dental drilling. It’s long, it’s annoying, and come on and get it over with already. Does anyone really think that Donald Trump went into tonight’s show not knowing who he was going to hire as his next Apprentice? Cheesy announcer guy did nothing to add to the suspense of the evening. I could have turned on the show at 10:50 and found out exactly what I wanted to know – that Stephanie was going to be the next Apprentice.
The evening begins in the Hollywood Bowl with the Donald described as “America’s Boss”. America’s boss? Maybe in my worst dream. He’s a great and successful businessman but you wouldn’t catch me wanting to work for his organization. Nothing against the Trump Organization, mind you. I just don’t think I’m cut out for that type of environment. I would have to imagine that most of America would agree with me, so calling Trump America’s boss is really quite a stretch.
Did Don Jr. get a new hairstyle? He also looked like he might have lost some weight. He lost that over-gelled look he sported in some of the episodes this season. I liked his look tonight. Speaking of looks – were Stephanie and Nicole over glammed or what?
The bloated finale begins with Trump describing the two opportunities available for his next apprentice – overseeing construction of a luxury resort complex in the Dominican Republic, or overseeing construction of a high rise luxury condominium building in Atlanta. Stephanie and Nicole go for the job in the Caribbean, while Frank and James say they’d want the job in Atlanta.
We then go to the first firing of the evening, when Trump was going to can two people. You could kind of see it coming that it would be Frank and Nicole, especially when Ivanka and Don Jr. start really criticizing them, Ivanka going so far as to say she was not impressed with Frank and Nicole’s performance on this project. Trump asks the candidates to speak as to why they should be hired, and then he says “I heard you and now you’re going to hear me” before he lets out the “you’re fired” line. As if he never spoke once during this whole interview process or that these candidates would not listen to what he had to say. Plus I love the whole charade that what Frank, James and Nicole had to say tonight made him decide to hire Stephanie as the Apprentice.
After Frank and Nicole get the heave-ho, we see some behind the scenes type videos about James and Stephanie’s lives. Stephanie’s video is all business, while James interjects some warm and fuzziness, getting his family involved.
My favorite line of the night was when Trump says he thinks he knows who he’s going to hire, but then asks Ivanka if she had anything to add. Come on, Mr. Trump. You knew exactly who you were going to hire after the final task. And about that final task. It was pretty mild compared to the tasks you had the candidates complete last year. Maybe it was because you were in LA as opposed to NYC, but I love to see the crazy, over the top, complex final projects because isn’t that exactly what you’re going to find on one of your major construction sites?
Bring the Apprentice back to New York City – PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
