Stephen Baldwin

Stephen Baldwin is the youngest of the talented Baldwin brother acting clan that also features Daniel, William, and Alec.  In fact, being the youngest meant Stephen often had to live in the shadows of his older brothers, but Stephen has managed to carve out his own career.  He will be featured this season on the NBC reality show Celebrity Apprentice.

Stephen was born on May 12, 1966 in Massapequa, New York.  His mom Carol is a teacher and dad Alexander is a football coach.  Right after finishing high school, Stephen went to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts for only one year before landing small roles on television in “China Beach” and “Family Ties.”  His first feature role was in 1988’s The Beast.  In 1989, he was cast in Last Exit to Brooklyn and Born on the Fourth of July.  That same year, he began appearing on “The Young Riders” as William F. Cody.  He would appear in 67 episodes of that show, which ran from 1989 to 1992.

After appearing in A Simple Twist of Fate and Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle in 1994, Stephen landed a breakthrough role in The Usual Suspects.  After that, he starred in several lower profile films such as Bio-Dome, Half-Baked, and Friends and Lovers.

In 2002, Stephen starred in his first reality show – “Celebrity Mole Hawaii.”  He also returned for “Celebrity Mole Yucatan.”  In 2004, Stephen became the host of Sci Fi Channel’s “Scare Tactics,” a reality show where contestants are put into scary situations as a joke by family and friends.

Stephen’s Christianity plays a big part in many of his career choices.  In 2004, he produced and directed the film Livin’ It.  Livin’ It is about athletes, particularly those who participated in extreme sports, who are also Christians.  In 2006, Stephen released the book The Unusual Suspect.  The name was a play on his famous role, but the book dealt with Stephen’s rebirth into Christianity.  Stephen’s web site, http://www.stephenbaldwin.com, features Christian rap music, information about his book, and his BreakThrough ministry.

In August 2007, Stephen appeared on the CMT reality show “Ty Murray’s Celebrity Bull Riding Challenge.”  However, he was injured in the first episode after taking a bad fall off the bull.  Later, it was learned he had broken his shoulder blade and cracked a rib.  The doctor ordered him not to return to the show, but he did appear in the last episode as a show of support for the other celebrity contestants.  He received a rodeo buckle from Ty Murray for his efforts.

Stephen has been married to his wife Kennya Baldwin since 1990 and the couple has two children, Alia, born in 1993 and Hailey, born in 1996.
