Surreal Life 6 premiers on VH1
Last night I was sitting around at 9:00 p.m. when I realized “Desperate Housewives” was a repeat. Whatever was I going to do? I started changing the channels and happened upon Surreal Life 6 on VH1. I saw in the description it was the season premier so I thought to myself what the heck? I’ll give it a try.
Six so-called celebrities (I use the term loosely) live together in this mansion and VH1 tapes their interaction and plays it for the world to see. On moving in day we meet them: Sherman Hemlsey (from “The Jeffersons”), Tawny Kitaean (the half naked girl in the old Whitesnake videos), C.C. Deville (from the band Poison), Steve Harwell (from the band Smashmouth), Alexis Arquettte (the trans-gender sibling of Rosanna, Patricia and David Arquettte), and Andrea Lowell (a Playboy TV personality and Playboy Playmate). Florence Henderson (Mrs. Brady from “The Brady Bunch”) is going to function as a therapist/facilitator type of person.
The first episode, overall, was boring. What did we learn? C.C. and Steve are just out of rehab. Tawny snores. Alexis is going to get a sex-change operation, Andrea likes to cook while naked, and Sherman doesn’t like to share a room with anyone. That’s too bad, because after the “Fifteen More Minutes of Fame Reality Hunk Pageant” Sherman is going to have a roommate. Unfortunately I can’t remember his name. I know he was on some sort of wrestling reality TV show, I think. I guess the producers accurately named that pageant – they were so memorable I can’t remember his name.
I think there are some strong personalities in this house, and that we are going to get to see some confrontation and tension. Isn’t that why we tune in and why VH1 puts it on the air? We want to see sex or fights. Either is entertaining.
