Survivor Fans vs. Favorites: Chet is Eliminated and Jonathan is Evacuated
I have not watched all the seasons of Survivor, but I cannot think of anyone more worthless on the show than Chet. Honestly, has he done anything except eat, sleep, and occasionally complain? Jonathan hurt his knee last week – so badly that he needed stitches. The environment being what it is, that caused an abscess. Yet, he was still going – even participated in the reward challenge to help his team win. (They got access to two natives who helped them learn to fish and get food) But, he fell, causing Jeff to ask for medical. The girl that arrived told him he had an abscess and it wasn’t going to get better without going to a hospital. In fact, it could turn into a blood infection that would potentially be fatal.
So with many tears, Jonathan left. Airai pulled a neat trick in which they were supposed to have two people walk on two stepping poles to get to a platform. But, they had the girls crouch, one at a time on the pole, and James carried them there with the other tribe members helping keep the pole balanced. Airai finished before Malakal even got one person over and Malakal won immunity.
Then Chet has a piece of coral in a foot and all the sudden he has a foot infection. He asked for a fish hook because he wanted to dig it out. Now I am not saying coral in the foot is not painful, but Jonathan’s knee looked bad – Chet’s foot looked a little pink. Then he whined to his tribe that “I am a mess” and he wanted to go home. This screwed up Tracy and Erik’s plan to blindside some Favorite. They begged him to stay – in fact, I think Erik said that could be his dying gift to them – and they talked about all voting for Ozzie.
At tribal, the first four votes were for Chet, sending him home. This is what kills me – I thought they had a plan to backdoor Ozzie. But when the voting was shown, Tracy voted for Erik, Erik voted for Chet, and Chet voted for Erik. WHAT? No one voted for Ozzie like they had agreed on!
I really don’t see any favorite winning this show. I thought these guys were supposed to be superfans and Jason, who found the poorly crafted “idol’ left by Ozzie, thinks he has the real thing. They whine about the Favorites being so powerful, yet they can do very little to help themselves. They cannot even stick with a vote! And having gotten rid of Joel, their strongest tribe member, they couldn’t win the immunity challenge like Airai did – they got rid of their physically strongest player! I am just not impressed by the fans at this point.
