Survivor Fans vs. Favorites: Jonny Fairplay Makes an Early Exit
Tonight was the premiere of a new season of Survivor – Fans vs. Favorites. The favorites are James (Survivor: China), Amanda (Survivor: China), Yau-Man (Survivor: Fiji), Jonathan (Survivor: Cook Islands), Ozzy (Survivor: Cook Islands), Parvati (Survivor: Cook Islands), Cerie (Survivor: Panama), Ami (Survivor: Vanuatu), Eliza (Survivor: Vanuatu) and Jonny Fairplay (Survivor: Pearl Islands). The favorites think they have the advantage over the fans in that they have done all this before.
The fanes are Erik (an ice cream scooper), Natalie (personal trainer/bartender), Mikey B (an aspiring writer), Mary (a business owner), Joel (a firefighter), Tracy (a residential builder), Chet (in customer service), Alexis (a motivational speaker), Jason (a gymnastics coach), and Kathy (a golf course vendor). The fans think they have the advantage over the favorites in that they know their game play and weaknesses.
After Jeff told the fans they would be going up against favorites, he told them to go across the bay where the boats were and look for two immunity idols (which were on the boats). Jonny Fairplay got one idol, but realized it was the one for the fans, so he ran for the one on the favorites boat. Unfortunately, Yau-man kind of got there first. By kind of, I mean Yau-man gave Jonny a check that would make any hockey player proud and he got the idol. He told Kathy to pick up the fan idol, which was good. Between her questioning Chet about being gay and talking about Tracy’s breasts, I think she rubbed everyone the wrong way.
There was some rubbing of the right way going on over at the favorite’s camp as it appears two romantic alliances formed very quickly between Ozzy and Amanda and James and Parvati. That scared Eliza and she quickly formed an alliance with Yau-man, Jonathan, and Ami, but I am not sure the whole alliance trusts Eliza. They decided to pull in Jonny Fairplay before he could turn on them.
Jonny kept talking about how he could vote either way and change the game, but in the end, it was just a bunch of talk. The fans won the immunity challenge and although there was a lot of talk about going after Parvati or Eliza, in the end it was Jonny that took himself out. I kept thinking it was all a game because he kept telling everyone he wanted to go because he was worried about his not-yet-born daughter, but if it was game play, he took it too far. At tribal, Jonny made the most unceremonious exit, getting everyone’s vote.
