Survivor Fans vs. Favorites: Mary is Eliminated
I am beginning to think this should have been called Survivor: Love Connection. As if it wasn’t enough with Ozzy and Amanda and Parvati and James, we find out that Mikey B and Mary have a little something something going on. However, not all is well in the Airai tribe. The younger tribe members accused Kathy, Chet, and Tracy of not working. After Jason claims the cave for himself, those three throw up a nice little shelter for themselves in no time. This prompts the younger members to ask them for help. They all finally get a fire going and with two shelters, food, and water, tensions begin to ease a bit.
Cirie hears Amanda and Ozzy making out one night and tells Jonathan. Still, Ozzy says he wants to keep the romance on the down low. Jonathan pulls Cirie into the alliance of everyone against the couples.
For the challenge, the tribes had to have five swimmers go one at a time, bust a tile, and retrieve a key within it from the water. Once all five keys were back, someone had to use them to open a box containing puzzle pieces. The remaining tribe members had to assemble the puzzle pieces. Things went well until Chet couldn’t find his key. He kept looking around until Joel finally screamed for him to come back in. Then, he took his own time with that. Jason finally went down and retrieved his key, but it was too late – the favorites won the challenge. They got immunity, fishing gear, and access to a bamboo boat. They also got to send someone from Airai to Exile Island. They chose Kathy. But, Jeff had a twist – Airai got to send someone from Malakal with Kathy. They chose Cirie.
Cirie and Kathy made many treks back and forth across the ocean finding clues, but no hidden immunity idol. While those two were gone, Mikey B. came up with a master plan of who to eliminate. The only problem was, he had so many scenarios that most people couldn’t keep up, but it seemed the plan was to vote for Chet. Joel was irritated that Mikey was trying to be a leader, so he put his own plan into play – get rid of Mary to chop Mikey off at the knees.
At tribal, there were two votes for Chet, two for Tracy and two for Mary. Everyone was confused, but the last three votes were for Mary, making her the second person eliminated. Jeff said that he didn’t think Mary expected that at all and congratulated the tribe on their first blindside. Mikey could only sit there with his mouth open while Joel smiled.
The thing that kills me is, when they showed the votes, Joel voted for Tracy – he didn’t even follow his own plan! What kind of leader is he going to be?
