Survivor Gabon: Michelle and Gillian from Fang Tribe are Voted Off

The contestants are quickly divided up into the Kota tribe: Bob (physic teacher), Ace (photographer), Sugar (pin-up model), Marcus (medical resident), Charlie (management consultant), Paloma (student/server), Jacquie (medical sales), Kelly (assistant manager), and Corrine (pharmaceutical sales) and the Fang tribe: Gillian (nurse), Crystal (preschool teacher), Susie (part time hairdresser), Matty (personal trainer), Randy (videographer), GC (maintenance supervisor), Dan (former attorney), Michelle (works in film), and Ken (professional gamer and student).

You could tell early on that Kota looked to Bob as a leader, while Fang really struggled to come together. If Bob were seen as an elderly statesman, Gillian was seen as an old bag of dead weight. We saw Ace lead several member of his tribe in meditation and yoga – in the middle of the jungle? We found out that Charlie has the hots for Marcus and Marcus knows that, but he doesn’t “roll that way.” But, they form an Onion alliance and bring in Corrine and Jacquie. They plan to bring in Bob, but I don’t remember seeing them talk to him.

Fang loses the first three challenges, voting out Michelle at their first tribal. She whined because she was last picked and wasn’t on the “beautiful people” tribe, and then started bad mouthing people for not trying during the challenge at tribal. I was personally glad to see her go! Randy seemed like a bit of a whiner to, complaining that he had “nothing against 60 year old women, but don’t come to my camp,” referring to Gillian. Um, news flash to Randy – he’s no spring chicken! And Ken talked trash about Gillian too – seriously, a skinny, nerdy gamer? I don’t know if he should be talking about anyone.

Anyhow, while Kota is riding high, we finally saw Fang come together. They put on war faces for the second immunity challenge and dang it if they didn’t almost win! They at least got fire from their first tribal. I almost wanted to cheer when they used Randy’s eyeglasses and GC’s shoestrings to make a hook and catch fish. Dan, who was sent to Exile, but found nothing, plans to be the silent leader after GC gives up the leadership forced upon him. Most tribe members seem to think that Dan has found the idol at Exile.

At the second tribal tonight, it was Fang again. At tribal, Dan says he doesn’t have the immunity idol and asks them to not try to flush it out. The tribe decided to instead flush out Gillian, which may make Susie a target.
