Survivor Tocantins: Brendan is Blindsided

If I have to hear any more of Coach’s stories on “Survivor,” I think I may barf. If I have to hear him call himself the Dragonslayer again, I know I will barf. He started out the show with a story about being dropped for free by a military helicopter into the jungles of the Amazon. He was caught by a dwarf tribe, who tried him up and talked about eating his butt (his words, not mine!). He managed to escape, but this is only one of his seven or eight brushes with death. Thankfully, he was able to spend some time at a monastery in Tibet and learn an ancient art only handed down verbally, so I cannot look it up on the Internet. Coach is full of…well, you know what.

The reward challenge was for teams of three to throw metal balls at boxes to try to break the tile centers. Once a team’s tiles were all broken, they were out of the game. The winner got a white water rafting trip plus a picnic. Coach boasted that he had experience doing this (at the monastery, no doubt), but it didn’t help him win. The team of J.T., Debbie, and Brendan won. Coach was upset – he wanted to go rafting. If a dwarf tribe had tied me up and beat me, I would not have wanted to get near water again!

It seemed like Brendan bonded with J.T. and Debbie on the trip, but I don’t really know because my channel showed the beginning of the picnic, then cut abruptly to two minutes of commercials, followed by the ending credits of Inside Edition, then two more minutes of commercials. By the time it got back to the show, Brendan was telling Sierra that he had bonded with J.T. and Debbie.

Tyson won immunity – again. Coach and Tyson still wanted to enact last week’s plan to oust Brendan. Brendan talked to Taj about their secret alliance and wanted to get rid of Coach. But the three got together and pretended that J.T. was the target.

When Coach’s name was read a couple of times at tribal, I was hoping he was gone, but the tide turned and the votes were split between Sierra and Brendan. When the final vote was read, Brendan became the first member of the jury.
