Suzanne was weighing down the blue team
This week’s show, as all of the shows do, started with a temptation for the teams. Bob and Jillian met them in the gazebo and had a platter with them – loaded down with a double cheeseburger, French fries, onion rings and a chocolate milkshake. The task was to determine how many calories were on the plate, putting to the test the knowledge they should have learned by this time at the ranch. The catch was that each person had to do as many steps on the Stairmaster as they were off. The winning team was rewarded with a trip to Universal Studios. The guys guess 2,950 calories while the ladies guess 4,249 calories – and Suzanne was the driving force behind this guess, claiming her “gut instinct” was telling her she was correct. She was wrong – 1,415 calories off the true mark. To motivate his team, Bob brought in Andrea, last year’s winner, to have a talk with the ladies. She sat around with them, asking their reasons for participating and encouraging them, telling them they have to like themselves first on the inside in order to appreciate their physical changes.
The challenge this week was, in my opinion, kind of dumb – but then again, most of the challenges are. The teams had to run around a loft filled with locked refrigerators, trying to find the 5 that could be open by their team’s keys. Each of these refrigerators were filled with trays of Jell-O, so once they found the fridge the team had to take the trays back to another empty fridge. The women won the challenge this week, and as their reward they were able to watch videos made by their friends and family back home. We had a mushy few minutes watching the ladies and Bob viewing these videos. Personally I could have done without all the mush. Yeah, yeah, we know you miss your family and that your family loves you, blah, blah, blah. Maybe they could have used this time with a more interesting challenge.
At the weigh in the men went first, and lost a total of 57 pounds, or 3.74% of their total body weight. The women had to lose more than 39 pounds to win the challenge. They came up 3 pounds short, so once again they had to face Caroline in an elimination. Suzanne was voted off, and she seemed to take it in stride. In fact, when they gave us a glimpse of where she is now she looks fabulous. She’s lost a total of 70 pounds and is well on her way to her goal of a 100 pound weight loss.
