The Amazing Race 10 Finale
As might be expected, tonight’s finale was filled with twists and turns. The teams had to make it from Barcelona to Paris – the Eiffel Tower to be specific. Rob and Kimberly got the first flight to Charles de Gaulle Airport, but Lyn and Karlyn lucked out by going to Orly Airport. They left an hour later than Rob and Kimberly, but arrived at an airport closer to the Eiffel Tower, so they were briefly in first. Only briefly though. Once at the Eiffel Tower, they had to take a train to Caen, in which all teams were on the same train. The Road Block was one team member had to tandem skydive while the other remained in the plane – which would take an unexpected nosedive! The team members met back up at the train station and had to get back to Paris. Rob and Kimberly missed the first train (which arrived early), but still managed to catch up with everyone.
The Detour was Art or Fashion. They either had to carry a painting through the streets of Paris to an artist or cut, pin and fit a pattern to a mannequin. All teams choose Fashion and the Models, having fashion experience, finished first. They had to fly to New York City next. The Models and Rob and Kimberly went back to Charles de Gaulle, but Lyn and Karlyn made the mistake of going back to Orly. Unfortunately for them, Orly didn’t have flights to NYC (they should have known this!), and by the time they got back to Charles de Gaulle, they were not able to board the flight the other two teams got on. Rob and Kimberly were surprised to see the Models get on and it became a two team race at this point.
After reaching the Daily News Building, the teams had to run through the streets of NYC to get to East Village. There, they were told to get a cab to Garrison, NY and find St. Basil Academy – the final destination of the race. Rob and Kimberly tried, but I think they lost time when the Models cabbie had an E-Z Pass for the toll and their’s didn’t. The Models won the first place prize of $1 million. Rob and Kimberly, coming in second, said they would still get married and have a family. Lyn and Karlyn, who I was afraid had been deserted in France, finally showed up. I knew those two didn’t have a chance, but I really thought Rob and Kimberly were going to win for a while.
