The Bachelor: The Girls Meet Jason Mesnick
Tonight was the premiere of the new season of The Bachelor. Jason Mesnick, the show’s first single dad, brought his son along (to be watched by his brother Larry). After a somewhat humiliating review of DeAnna’s refusal of his proposal on last season’s The Bachelorette, Jason got to meet the 25 beautiful women, which included four single moms.
Some stuck out in his mind, no doubt, like Jillian, from Alberta, Canada, who wanted to know what type of hotdog dressing he used. She said this would tell her what kind of guy he was. He was a mustard guy by the way, which was good. Shannon, the dental hygienist, stepped out of the limo with fake teeth, then told him his life history, but kept insisting she wasn’t a stalker. Sharon told him she resigned from her job as a teacher to be on the show. Stephanie was one of my early on favorites. She lost her husband in a plane crash when her daughter was only 10 weeks old. Kari read a corny poem to Jason while Nicole was there with them, which made Nicole feel uncomfortable. Molly cut in on Raquel (who is from Brazil), then Raquel cut back in on Molly. Renee told Jason about her vision boards – where she pastes what she wants so she can visualize it and make it come true.
Lauren was the birthday girl, but she didn’t get the first impression rose – Nikki, a beauty pageant queen who looked a bit like Sandra Bullock did. And, did anyone else think that Shelby looked a bit like a blonde DeAnna?
The producers decided to throw a twist in the show (or as I like to put it, stir up some crap among the girls) by having the girls vote someone off. Five girls voted to evict Megan because she kept talking about being a parent (she has a 14 month old son), but the real twist was she got a rose and got to stay. Life probably won’t be easy for her though because when she found out it was her they voted for, she turned around and said “You *&^%!”
With Megan (lacrosse coach) and Nikki (administrative assistant) safe, Jason gave out the remaining roses to Lauren (teacher), Kari (advertising executive), Naomi (flight attendant), Natalie (human resources), Molly (store buyer), Raquel (medical student), Stephanie (medical marketing), Melissa (sales representative), Jillian (interior decorator), Shannon (dental hygienist), Lisa (public relations), Sharon (teacher), and Erica (account executive). I thought Dominique was too cute with those big eyes, but Jason didn’t give her a rose. He also sent Jackie the wedding coordinator and Stacia, the mother of two, home.
