The Final Four Chefs
This week was the final elimination. One chef would leave and the remaining four would go to Hawaii for the final competition. Their Quickfire Challenge was to work with chocolate, which seemed easy, but it wasn’t. Chef Ripert totally dissed Elia, even though she produced two dishes. Ilan’s chocolate covered chicken livers just seemed nasty. He seemed to like the dishes of Cliff, Marcel, and Sam and named Sam as the winner.
The Elimination Challenge was to cook a romantic five course dinner for couples. As the winner of the Quickfire Challenge, Sam got to choose his course and he chose the first one. He also chose lobster and scallops and no one else could use those. Ilan chose to serve clams, Marcel served salmon, Cliff served sirloin, and Elia decided to do dessert, even though that is not her strong point.
The judges thought the food was the best of the competition, although they didn’t care as much for Cliff’s sirloin as the other dishes. Which may have put Cliff at a disadvantage, but he did himself in later that night anyhow. The group got weird! They were drinking and decided it would be fun to shave their heads. Well, at least Elia and Ilan did. Sam, who I thought started it all, backed out. Then they thought it would be funny to shave Marcel’s head. Only problem was he was asleep and Cliff wrangled him into the floor. No one actually touched his hair (although it might have been a blessing!), but once word got to Tom, he told Cliff to physically touch another chef was in violation of the rules and he had to leave.
In Cliff’s defense, he did take it like a man. He took responsibility for his actions and even apologized to Marcel. He might have gone home anyhow for his cooking, but I hated to see him leave like that. So Marcel, bald Elia and Ilan, and Sam are headed for Hawaii!
