The Passing Zone Passes the Judge’s Test
Each week, I get more and more worn out with this show. It could be a good, enjoyable show – if it knew what it wanted to be. Brandy tells an act “That’s not what this show is about.” Unfortunately, no one really seems to have a clue what the show is about! Tonight, we saw the horribly wholesome Celtic Spring. There was Sean and John with their odd combination of tap dancing and hip hop moves. I mean seriously, did Sammy Davis Jr. ever do the splits when he was tap dancing? Then we saw Dave Smith, the One Man Side Show performed to a song I can only imagine was called Masochism Tango. We had Quick Change, a slick Vegas looking act, but not much to it. There was George Kelly, a sort of mutant Donny Osmond singer. Then there was Michelle L’amour, the burlesque type stripper. She gave us the single most hilarious moment in the show’s history when she threw her top to Brandy. If looks could kill, Ms. L’amour certainly would have been wheeled out on a stretcher. But I thought it was too funny! Then we had the King Charles Unicycle Group with little kids.
So does this show want to be wholesome and innocent with little kids and puppy dogs, hip hop and urban, or down and dirty? And how many times is Piers (my favorite judge by far, but that isn’t saying much) going to make children cry on stage? Am I the only one that finds this uncomfortable? Hasselhoff – is he drinking again or what? If not, maybe he should be because he acts as if he is anyhow. Oh well, I am thankful the judges chose a talented act this time – John & Owen, the Passing Zone are actually quite funny.
Tonight, we get to hear the Big Doofus sing on stage. God help us all!
