Wow, I am just sucking this week. I liked Gev – he is out of So You Think You Can Dance. I liked Paul Foot – he was eliminated from Last Comic Standing. And going into the finale for Legally Blonde: The Musical – The Search for Elle Woods, Autumn was my favorite. Guess who won tonight?

Yes, I guess I jinxed Autumn because Bailey, a girl I thought would have been voted out weeks ago, won and will be the next Elle Woods on Broadway. The girls had to audition before Jerry Mitchell and the other judges tonight at the Palace Theater. They had the sets, the cast members, and even an orchestra. They had to perform “OMG You Guys,” “Positive,” and “So Much Better.” Haylie said it was Broadway history – no one had ever had the chance to audition with the entire production behind them. She said that like it was a good thing – the girls had to run up moving stairs, watch for doors in the floor, etc.

Both did well, but Jerry said that he wished he could meld them into one. Autumn was obviously the stronger singer, but Bailey was the better dancer. Autumn also had a small screwed up her words, but Jerry praised her for recovering well. He did say that neither girl was ready right now. I think Bernie preferred Bailey, but it was harder to read Jerry.

I was hoping Autumn might have a better shot because her voice was so strong, but no, they gave it to Bailey. I guess she had more sorority-girlness about her, although Jerry said she had the huge habit to break of looking at the audience instead of the person with which she was performing the scene.

At the end, Bailey sang “So Much Better” again and all the girls appeared behind her. Hopefully Autumn will find work on Broadway somewhere else – she certainly has a great voice.
