The Search for Elle Woods: The Judges Cut Emma

The call sheet for this week had a surprise for the girls – dancing. Emma was very anxious and she was still battling bronchitis. Denis Jones and Nick Kenkel (from the musical ensemble) worked with the girls, but Nick turned out to be very serious and sometimes brutal. He had no problem at all calling people out. To truly test the girls, they put then in pink boots with 4-inch heels and took them to a cobblestone street. Denis and Nick felt Natalie was the best and she was given a yoga session with Kate Shindle, who played Vivienne. Natalie chose Rhiannon to go with her.

The talk with Kate must have helped Natalie because she excelled at the audition. The girls had to learn both Elle’s part and the ensemble part of the Shake Your Junk dance during the song “Positive.” The girls only had one hour to rehearse the dance. They went home and then they were given a call sheet that asked them to pick the worst dancer, the worst singer, etc. They were appalled and Autumn took the lead to change the questions to stuff like most improved dancer. However, this storyline really went nowhere other than to show up that Autumn is trying to get into the true spirit of Elle.

Too bad she mucked up the audition. She performed poorly then told the judges that an hour wasn’t long enough to learn the dance. Bernie told her she couldn’t use excuses and Autumn ran off the stage and hurled in the bathroom. Needless to say, she was in the bottom two, as was Emma who used the bronchitis as an excuse. I personally thought Emma’s dance was rather good, but what do I know.

The judges marveled over Natalie, telling her she as on the list before Haylie even read the names. That must have made her feel great, but things change so quickly from week to week on this show. At the casting office, Paul applauded both girls for working despite problems and said they could see Elle in both of them, but Emma needed to be on all the time, not just part of the time and she was sent home. I fear Autumn is just barely hanging on now.
