The Search for Elle Woods: The Judges Cut Lauren
The girls got a bit cattier this week as they were narrowed down to the final four on Legally Blonde: The Musical – The Search for Elle Woods. Lauren was angry that Natalie was not given a second chance and didn’t understand why Rhiannon was there. Autumn was noticing the age difference between her and the other girls.
The Call Sheet was to go to Miss J’s Studio. They met Rusty Mallory and Michelle Kittrell, cast members and dance captains for Legally Blonde: The Musical. This week, the girls had to learn to put everything together – dancing, singing, and acting. They had to recite a monologue while being tossed in the air by Rusty, tap dance, and sing and cheer at the same time. They were told there was no standout performer – they were all standouts for making it this far. For their treat, they got flowers, a nice dinner in the suite, and a Tiffany Elle necklace.
Emotions were running high as the girls left for the audition. It would include singing, acting, dancing, and even a quick costume change. Poor Rhiannon sounded like she was gasping for air while singing. Paul even said he was afraid he was going to have to come over and give her mouth to mouth. Autumn had to fake the tap dancing, but was so good at the singing. Lauren did a good choreography and could sing, but the judges felt like they were watching a girl on stage, not a woman. Bailey had hat problems (she was given the wrong size and it kept slipping down), but it showed the judges a different part of her – a good side.
When Haylie showed up, there were no names on her list – all the girls were told to report to the casting office. It was there that Autumn was told she was inconsistent, Bailey was told she had the look, but no emotional depth, Lauren had a good voice, but was too youthful, and Rhiannon was just out of breath and she would have to do this 7 days a week.
The judges decided to send Lauren home, but there was a surprise – director Jerry Mitchell only wanted to see two girls in the finale next week, so someone else was going home. We didn’t find out tonight, but my money in on Rhiannon. She has an “it” factor, but if she cannot last the routine, that is not good.
