Toddlers and Tiaras: California Gold Coast Beauty Pageant
This week’s “Toddlers and Tiaras” was on the west coast. The contestants followed were Michaela Coons (age 8). Her mama Margaux and daddy were into performing as pirates, so Michaela incorporated that into her pageant performances. Sparkal Queenz (age 7) even got her dad involved in pageants. Cassidy Blair (age 7) was the most interesting contestant. She started at two months and won Princess at her first pageant. However, her mother Julie wasn’t happy with that, so she threw the crown down in the parking lot and ran over it. Julie says Cassidy has undiagnosed ADHD, but admitted she was a “nasty little brat” at times. I just wondered if it was really something medical or just home training.
Julie used crown sunglasses as a bribe to get Cassidy to perform during the pageant then promised her a DS on the way home if she won high point. As it turned out, all she won was Prettiest Eyes and High Point for her age group. She performed magic for her talent, but looked like she’d rather be anywhere but there. She didn’t want to smile during the beauty part and had a little temper tantrum on stage when her mother tried to get her to smile. After losing the overall High Point, she punched a balloon, saying busting it was the best part of the day. I think Julie will have her hands full with Cassidy, but it seems to be of her own doing!
Sparkal won Miss Personality, but wasn’t in competition for the overall High Point. Michaela had a lot of pirate props, but it must have paid off – she won Most Beautiful Face and overall High Point.
