Toni Braxton is eliminated on Dancing With The Stars

At first I thought I was late for this week’s results show on Dancing With The Stars.  Then I realized that the 8:00 show was merely a recap of last night’s show.  Don’t we get that first thing in the results show?  Yes and no.  This week the producers gave us a “judges’ roundtable” where Bruno, Carrie Ann and Len discussed the evening’s performances after the show.  No matter how you try to sell it, this is nothing more than a time waster or filler.  After this bit we find out that the guest judge for next week (filling in for poor, tired, overworked Len) is the original Lord of the Dance, Michael Flately.  Hey, I didn’t realize he knew anything about ballroom.

This week’s encore performance: Cody and Julianne.  Len said they chose this dance because it was fantastic and because it was Cody’s first 10 of the season.

After break we see a performance by the musical guest The Brian Setzer Orchestra.  They performed the hit “Rock this Town” and were accompanied by Karina Smirnoff and Louis Van Amstel.  The pros were amazing in their performance.  Following the performance we get the obligatory recap of where all the couples are on the leader board, and then the first announcements of the couples who are safe.  Warren and Kym and Cloris and Corky are safe.  I have to wonder if Cloris is this season’s VFTW candidate.  But it’s interesting because she was in the bottom two last week, so it’s going to be a big surprise for someone come 8:56 ish.

Following the commercial was one of my favorite bits on the results show, the ballroom kids competition.  This week had Anthony and Alisa from Los Angeles (ages 10 and 11) competing against Maria and Mitchell from Philadelphia (ages 13 and 12).  Both of these couples were phenomenal.  The judges ended up sending Maria and Mitchell through to the finals.

The Macy’s Stars of Dance segment was up next, a celebration of American dance throughout the years in honor of Macy’s 150th birthday.  The routine was choreographed by Rich and Tone and took several months and tens of thousands of man hours to create.  It was interesting, I guess, but nothing special.  Nothing like when Michael Flatley danced in the ballroom.  Do you think he might dance next week?  I would love to see that.

There’s a segment on the celebrities talking about the fierceness of the competition up to now followed by another elimination announcement.  Cody and Julianne and Maurice and Cheryl are safe.

After commercial we find out the two couples in the bottom two are Toni and Alec and Susan and Tony.  I’m surprised that Susan Lucci is in the bottom two, but maybe people who watch All My Children don’t watch Dancing With The Stars.  In the end it was Toni and Alec who were sent home.

    1. I don't get it Says:

once again another star is gone that should not be! Cloris is the one that should have been gone this women is just a joke, and she’s been a joke since the first show. And dancing with the stars call themselves next week
to have the stars doing some hip hop dances thats going to be a DAMN joke!

    2. grandma Says:

I think the producers would like to see Cloris collapse, which she will if she has to keep this pace going. I agree, that hip hop is completely inappropriate for a ballroom setting, it belongs in a bar room!
