Top Chef: Eve Packs her Knives and Leaves
The quick fire challenge on “Top Chef” was to roll dice on a craps table. The number the contestant rolled was the number of ingredients he or she could use in a dish. Laurine rolled the lowest number I remember seeing – a 3. Still, she managed to avoid being on the bottom. Jesse, Eve, and Bryan were the bottom three while Michael B., Jennifer, and Kevin were on the top. Michael was declared the winner and got $15,000 for it.
The Elimination Challenge was to cook for a bachelor and bachelorette in a battle of the sexes. Ashley admitted she was gay (gasp!) and the challenge upset her. Preeti, who has been with her partner for 13 years, understood but was not quite as upset. Jennifer was upset, but for an entirely different reason. She thought the battle of the sexes was ridiculous. The guys had to cook for the bachelorette while the girls cooked for the bachelor, but there was another twist – they had to pair their three dishes with three shots (Moscow mule, tequila, and gold & delicious).
The guys won with Bryan, Hector, Eli, and Michael B. having the top four dishes. The judges chose Bryan as the winner, so each brother won a challenge this week.
The bottom four girls were Jesse (her dish was watery), Eve (whose shrimp had no flavor), Preeti (Padma said her tuna was hard to eat), and Ashley (who cooked on dish the judges said was one of the best of the night, but the other one was bad). It was Eve who was told to pack her knives and leave. It seems that early on this season, there is a pattern of who is constantly on top and who is constantly on the bottom.
