Top Design: Down to Five
The designers were divided into two teams, something most of them seem to hate. Matt, Michael, and Carisa were one team and Andrea, Erik, and Goil were the other team. They were to set up a tent at a party for Bacardi Limon. They were asked to incorporate the five senses within their design and given a $8,500 budget.
From the start, Carisa clashed with everyone. She and Michael are like mixing oil and water, but even Matt grew tired of her. Goil felt that he didn’t have his voice heard in his team’s design, but decided to be a team player.
In the end, the judges felt that the design that Carisa, Matt, and Michael came up with was very cohesive, despite their bickering. I loved the addition of the doorman rather than the go-go dancers Michael wanted. They were chosen as the winning team. In addition, whoever the judges felt was the most responsible for the design would get an extra hour in their next challenge. The judges chose Matt. I think he deserved it just for putting up with Michael and Carisa. Of course, she still whined that it was “her design.” She may be a good designer, but she certainly is annoying.
From the losing team, Erik, who said he was most responsible for the design, was sent home. However, it was nice of Todd to tell him he had old school design in him and designing was obviously in his DNA.

Carissa needs to go. She is on such an ego trip since she won the garage sale challenge. I thought it took brass ones to stand in front of the judges and her teammates and take credit for the whole design. I loved how Matt and Michael challenged her and she had to back down. And how about Michael saying he was from New York City so he was familiar with these kinds of parties! How many parties do you actually think he attended, or do you think he learned everything from Page 6?
