Top Design Loses Another Designer
This week was interesting. It opened with John saying he was HIV positive, which really shocked me as well as I think it did the rest of the contestants. I guess I was shocked because he seemed a bit homophobic. Not that he contracted HIV through homosexual activity, but since many homosexuals are HIV, you would think he would be a bit more…understanding of others. But then he went on to say he got a huge testosterone shot and that was making him aggressive. He did apologize to everyone, including Michael for his behavior.
The designers were told to design a bedroom and given a sheet with a few clues about their clients. They did a bit of shopping before meeting the clients. They didn’t have $50,000 to spend this time, but $600 for paint and $8,000 for room furnishings.
You could see the panic in the designers eyes when the saw they would be designing bedrooms for – children! A bunch of ten year olds! They had a small budget after they met the kids to spend. I thought a few designers recovered well. Elizabeth ended up fixing a soccer themed room for her boy client. Ryan fixed a cat themed room for his girl client. The judges trashed his decision, saying he had made a room for a cat, but I thought it was cute, since she said the cat was her only friend. Erik made a great room – it looked like a pirate ship. Most of the rooms just looked too adult.
Erik won the challenge and receive immunity. John lost and had to leave (what is their saying “See you later Decorator?”), which was kinda sad. His room just never came together.
