Trish is eliminated on HGTV’s Design Star
Three contestants are left on HGTV’s Design Star, and this week was the final week that they would be judged by the panel of experts. The final two designers will compete in one more challenge next week, and then the viewers will select the winner of the show.
The challenge for the designers this week was to redesign a room for a family. What they didn’t realize at first was that the family they’d be working with was their own. Clive informs them that they will know the destination, but not the room to be done, until they get there. They’ll have a budget of $10,000, the assistance of a carpenter, and 26 hours to complete the project.
Jennifer travels to Sioux City, IA to redesign a room for her sister. She’ll be doing the living room – dining room area in this house. Trish travels to Macomb, MI to redesign her parents’ great room. Matt goes back to his hometown of Colorado Springs, CO to transform his parent’s current craft room into a craft room / game room combo that will be kid friendly.
The judges liked Jennifer’s design, and thought that it looked so much warmer than the original room. They really liked her hosting ability, saying that as a host she comes across with the point of view of the viewer. The judges thought Matt’s room looked good, and Vern said it had an architectural character to it. They also thought Matt was much improved in his hosting – Vern said he did a great job. Trish’s room was described by the judges as new and improved. She was also very poised and polished but approachable in her hosting ability.
After the deliberation the three finalists come back. Clive gives some nice compliments to the designers then out of no where says “Trish, your show has been cancelled.” I did not expect the elimination to be that quick. I thought we’d find out who went through first and then there would be some tension between the remaining two. This elimination went pretty quickly I thought.
Next week’s episode looks good. Matt and Jennifer travel to New Orleans to rebuild the home of a deserving family.
