Week 2: The Women Dance the Rumba
One of the professional dancers (I wish I could remember who) said that when you watch a Rumba you should feel as if you’re doing something wrong – like a voyeur. I only felt that way when I watched three of the ladies. I thought Lisa Rinna did a spectacular job, as did Tia Carrere. However, I was completely surprised when I saw Giselle Fernandez and her partner Jonathan Roberts perform. I guess I had prejudged her, figuring that as a serious journalist she couldn’t pull off such a sexy performance. Boy, was I wrong! When Jonathan said at the end of their dance “anyone got a cigarette” I have a feeling many men in that audience felt the same way. If only the judges liked it as much as I did.
