Wee Man
He had already proved it with his skateboarding ability, but host and actor Weeman is again proving that little people can hold their own against those of average height as he appears in the newest NBC reality show Celebrity Circus.
Jason Bryant “Weeman” Acuna was born on May 16, 1973 in Pisa, Italy. He suffers from the form of dwarfism known as achondroplasia and stands only 4’7” tall. Achondroplasia is the most common type of dwarfism, affecting approximately 1 in 25 000 individuals and is a result of a genetic mutation which causes the arm and leg bones to stop growing. However, Weeman did not let his small stature stop him growing up. He was raised in Torrance, California where he attended North High School, but he was not the best student. He admits to being a “flake-off” and had to take night classes in order to graduate. He briefly attended community college, but realized that was not for him. He became interested in skateboarding when he was 12 and his first job was selling skating supplies at the ER Surfshop in Hermosa Beach.
Weeman served as the subscription editor for Big Brother, a skateboard magazine. In fact, Jason’s “Weeman” nickname came from Sal Rocco, one of the magazine’s employees. It was the Big Brother job that led to his most famous job – on the television series “Jackass.” The executive producer of Big Brother, Jeff Tremaine, was the director of “Jackass” so Weeman appearing on the show was just a natural progression.
On “Jackass,” Weeman thrilled the viewers with such skateboarding feats as the Oompa-Loompa, where he was able to kick himself in the head. He also was able to do deep knee bends while he had NBA star Shaquille O’Neal on his back. Weeman is still involved in skateboarding and even designs his own boards. He has a Pro model out by Two Felons Skateboards. He also hosts the New England Sports Network (NESN) show “54321” about skateboarding.
Weeman starred in the 2007 reality series “Armed and Famous.” While on the show, Weeman went through weapons training and enjoyed it. During the run of the show, Weeman along with Erik Estrada, La Toya Jackson, Jack Osbourne, and Trish Stratus, became reserve police officers for the city of Muncie, Indiana.
