You Didn’t Even Cook Anything!
Tonight’s Quick Fire Challenge was to create something from leftovers. But not just any leftovers – animal innards such as pig’s blood, chicken feet, pig’s feet, beef hearts, lamb kidneys and such. I loved it when Betty saw Marcel using pig’s blood and said he looked like a vampire anyhow! In the end, most of the dishes looked good, but I don’t think I would eat them if I knew what was in them. The winner was Sam, although Cliff was also pointed out for his excellent dish.
The Elimination Challenge was to go to use leftovers at a club to serve a six-course meal for 60 friends of actress Jennifer Coolidge. The contestants were paired up and each pair had to create one course. Why Mia chose to work with Betty, I don’t know, after Mia was the one who called out Betty for using sugar in the cookies last week. None of the pairs worked together to design a strategy for the overall dinner, although Mia and Betty tried.
They had three hours to design their dishes. The leftovers were hardly what I expected and even the judges said they had good times to work with. However, most of the contestants made disappointing dishes. Mia and Betty used pastry that should have been left off and on top of that, their pastry was undercooked and their duck was overcooked. They said Carlos and Elia’s juice tasted like it has sat out and ruined. They really jumped on Marisa and Josie for their “pepto-bismol” looking prickly pear and coconut soup. But mostly, they complained that Marisa and Josie had three hours and cooked nothing. The judges said it came down to bad choices and thought Marisa and Josie made the worst, so they were both eliminated. Josie seemed a bit angry and I can understand. This was her first (and last) time in the bottom three. Frankly, I am glad to see Marisa and her Cher-hair gone.
