Bravo Reality TV Shows

Bravo is a television network that first took to the airways in 1980. It has a grand total of about 79 million viewers, and in recent years, it has been known for producing a large number of reality shows. Bravo is distinct from other television networks in that it isn't afraid to feature people from all walks of life. Some of the reality television shows you'll see on Bravo TV include:

Project Runway - Project Runway is a reality show about fashion design. The contestants compete against each other in a variety of challenges to find out who will be America's next hottest fashion designer. Contestants are eliminated weekly until three (or four) contestants remain to show their fashion collection at New York Fashion Week. The winner of the show receives a large cash price; a feature in Elle Magazine; a new vehicle; and the chance to have an apprenticeship with a prestigious clothing company. The show is hosted by supermodel Heidi Klum.

Top Chef - This is a reality show which first aired on the Bravo network in March of 2006. In Top Chef, a group of talented chefs compete against each other in a variety of weekly challenges. Each week there are two challenges: a quickfire challenge that tests the chefs' ability to work quickly and sometimes in challenging circumstances. There is a longer elimination challenge, where the loser of the challenge is sent home. The judges for the show include Tom Colicchio, Gail Simmons, and a guest judge. The winner of Top Chef is given a large cash prize to start their own restaurant, professional grade appliances, a feature in Food and Wine magazine, and the chance to showcase their talents at a major industry event.

Top Design - This reality show first aired on Bravo in January 2007 and is a competition show where aspiring interior designers compete to see who has created the Top Design. Season one was hosted by Todd Oldham and featured Jonathan Adler as the head judge.

Season one featured 12 stylists competing for prizes that include $100,000 and a prestigious apprenticeship with Nexxus lead stylist Roy Teeluck.

Work Out - First airing on Bravo in November 2006, Work Out follows the life of Jackie Warner, a Beverly Hills personal trainer and fitness club owner. Work Out features the people in Jackie's personal and professional lives, though sometimes the two blend together.

Queer Eye (for the Straight Guy) - This Emmy award winning reality television program first aired in 2003, and it was the rookie hit of that season. In this show, five gay men (the "Fab Five") with expertise in fashion, food, grooming, and such help to make over a "straight" man.

Queer Eye for the Straight Girl - This show is a spin-off of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. This reality program deals with makeovers for women instead of men, and it uses the same format as the first show. While the first show took place in New York, this version took place in Los Angeles.

Blow Out - This is a reality show that first aired in 2004. The first season dealt with the construction of a hair salon in Los Angeles, and it showcases the adventures of Jonathan Antin the owner of the business.

Showbiz Moms & Dads - This is a reality show which dealt with children and their parent, who wanted to become successful in the entertainment world. The show featured four families, and their adventures were shown throughout the series. While this show was somewhat popular, it did not have the success of many reality shows featured on the Bravo Network.
