Season 5 featured a boxer (Floyd Mayweather, Jr. - eliminated fourth), a billionaire (Mark Cuban - eliminated fifth), and a singing legend (Wayne Newton), but it was a racecar driver that took home the trophy in the end. Model and actress Josie Maran was the first eliminated, followed by model Albert Reed. There were many surprises and health scares this season. Most people expected Cheetah Girl Sabrina Bryan to go to the finals, but she was the sixth dancer eliminated. Marie Osmond (eliminated in third place) fainted on the show after dancing and Wayne Newton (the 3rd dancer eliminated) had to be cleared by doctors to go on the DWTS tour. Jane Seymour came back after the death of her mother, but was the seventh dancer eliminated. Cameron Mathison was the 8th eliminated dancer and Jennie Garth was the 9th.
The finale came down to Spice Girl Melanie Brown and Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves. On November 27th, Helio and partner Julianne Hough beat Melanie and Maksim to win the title.

Season Two of Dancing With The Stars
Due to the rapid popularity of the first season, the second season was aired in January of 2006. While the first season only had six couples, the second season had ten. The celebrities which were present in this season included Tatum O'Neal, Giselle Fernandez, Kenny Mayne, Master P, George Hamilton, Tia Carrere, Stacy Keibler, Lisa Rinna, Jerry Rice, and Drew Lachey. While the second season had more contestants, the format remained similar to the first season. Samantha Harris joined Tom Bergeron as co-host of the show.
It featured another retired athlete(Jerry Rice), and a former member of a boy band (Drew Lachey). The length of the second season was also increased. While the episode length of the first season was one hour, it was expanded to 90 minutes during the second season. A number of musical guests were used to perform while the couples danced, and some of them were Bill Medley and the Pussycat Dolls. The winners of season two were Burke and Lachey. A lot of controversy surrounded the voting system, which seemed to place a higher emphasis on the judges rather than the viewers. Despite this, the ratings performance of season two surpassed season one.
