Summer Showdown
If you had to have someone redo a room in your house, wouldn't you just love to have one of the personalities from HGTV do it? Well for four families this summer that's exactly what is going to happen. Summer Showdown is a series of one hour specials that has teams of HGTV personalities competing against each other as they makeover rooms in desperate need of change.
Viewers submitted photos of their rooms to be redone, and four families will be selected. Exact replicas of the rooms will be created in the "Designer Dome" (described on the HGTV web site as the mega HGTV design arena) and the teams will compete head to head to see who has the winning design. The winner will be judged by a panel of celebrity judges who will vote on the winning makeover. The viewer who submitted that room will win money to redo the room themselves.
The eight teams of HGTV designers that will be competing are:
- Team 1: Vern Yip and James Lunday
- Team 2: Cynthia Rowley and Steve Hanneman
- Team 3: Angelo Surmelis and Carter Oosterhouse
- Team 4: Lisa LaPorta and Carmen De La Paz
- Team 5: David Bromstad and Jared Walker Dostie
- Team 6: Constance Ramos and Anthony Gilardi
- Team 7: Steve Watson and Sabrina Soto
- Team 8: Eric Stromer and Lauren Lake
The first episode airs on HGTV on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at 10:00 p.m. eastern time.
