The Bachelorette
The Bachelorette is a spin-off of the popular ABC reality tv show The Bachelor. The basic format for this show is the same as The Bachelor, but the roles are reversed: Instead of a group of women competing for one man, a group of men are selected to compete for one woman. This series lasted from January 2003 until February of 2005. When it was first introduced, this show continued the legacy of The Bachelor, and it was quite popular among its target audience.
While The Bachelorette is a spin-off of The Bachelor, many of the contestants from both shows have appeared in each season. This has allowed the show to maintain a high level of popularity among its core audience. Despite this, The Bachelorette was not as popular as The Bachelor, and a fourth season of the show is not planned. This show also continued the legacy of couples failing to maintain long term relationships after the show aired.
Season One of The Bachelorette
The Bachelorette from the first season was Trista Rehn, who also appeared as a contestant in the first season of The Bachelor. She chose Ryan Sutter as her suitor, and the couple was married in a live television event in December of 2003. Their marriage was one of the most highly rated events on reality television. In addition to appearing on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, Trista has also appeared on Dancing with the Stars and Fear Factor. She has gained a great deal of popularity in the reality show world.
Season Two of The Bachelorette
The Bachelorette for the second season was Meredith Phillips. She turned down Bob Guiney, who was the bachelor from season four, and she chose Ian McKee instead. However, the couple broke up by the beginning of 2005. It should be noted that Meredith was originally appeared in the fourth season of The Bachelor, but she was not chosen. Some say she got "revenge" on Bob by not choosing him when she was The Bachelorette.
Season Three of The Bachelorette
The bachelorette for this season was Jennifer Schefft, who was selected by Andrew Firestone during the third season of the Bachelor, but broke up with him by the end of the show. During the final ceremony, she made a decision which had not yet been made in previous seasons: She turned down all the bachelor contestants.
